Dear Athlete

Just a quick update.

After years of holding our Championships at Alexander Stadium in Birmingham, the lack of availability, due to the pending re-laying of the track in August, has meant we have had to look elsewhere rather than accept an unsuitable date, both for athletes, officials and us organisers.

The management of Cardiff International Sports Stadium, together with Welsh Athletics have managed to juggle various events, to allow us access to the Stadium for our preferred weekend, 3rd/4th July. It is however a British League weekend, but we have no other choice. We are making the best of an extremely congested summer.

We will also be back in familiar territory, having spent many a happy weekend at our earlier Indoor Championships at the NIAC, on the UWIC Campus. I have also managed to secure accommodation, for athletes as well as officials at our previously used hotel, Park Inn Cardiff West on our normal Buffet Dinner, Bed and Breakfast arrangement. The details of the Hotel Deal will appear on the website in due course. There are numerous hotels, Travel Lodge, Premier Inn etc., in the Cardiff area which are relatively cheap for the room, but you need to make your own arrangements for dinner etc. These together with the plethora of B+B's in Cathedral Road, Cardiff, all very adjacent to the Stadium, should make the Championships reasonably accessible for all.

So good fortunate at least smiles on us, in these troubled times. The portents for 2010 are now looking brighter than envisaged of late.

Hope your training is going well.

Maurice Doogan
